Writing Tips: How to Manage Novel Context
What is Context?
AI large language models essentially do not have memory. Therefore, you need to provide the content of your novel or relevant requirements together with your writing prompts to the model. This helps the model create content that better aligns with your intentions.
As shown below, FeelFish allows you to include information such as novel characters and settings, helping you write more coherent stories that better express your creative ideas.
How to Polish Existing Content
When you select a piece of text and press Ctrl/CMD + K to summon the writing assistant, it will enter smart editing mode. You can then enter prompts to modify the selected content.
How to Add Global Settings for Style or Outline
As shown below, you can switch to the rules section on the left to add global settings for your novel's style or outline. After adding a file, when you summon the writing assistant (Ctrl/CMD + K), you can select the relevant rule file. This way, the assistant will include these rules during creation.
How to Add Characters and Settings
As shown below, you can add characters and settings in the corresponding section. After adding them, when you summon the writing assistant (Ctrl/CMD + K), you can select the relevant characters and settings. This ensures your writing includes the selected context.
You can select "All Characters" or "All Settings" to add all characters or settings to the context, or manually add specific ones.
How to Add Previous Content for Better Continuity
You can select "Previous Chapter Content" to add the entire previous chapter, or manually add any chapter's content (which is especially useful for multi-threaded plots).
How to View the Context Sent to the Model
For professional writers, knowing exactly what is sent to the AI model can be important. In FeelFish, you can check the request logs to see the context sent to the model, helping you debug your prompts and create content that meets your expectations.
The log information is at the bottom of the window, and you can click to view it.
